Feel free to drop me a line! I have been handed documentation of my branch that i am in the process of adding in here. It was given to me by my 2nd cousin on my dad's side. My great Aunt mary and her father started this research and I would like to continue it out as far as I can. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the United States Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for your contributions to our tree.

I see that you have been adding pre-1700 profiles tonight using "familysearch.org" as your source. This is not generally considered an adequate source for pre-1700 profiles. Would you please review the Pre-1700 Quiz and the explanations about the sort of sources WikiTree is looking for, as well as our Help page on Sources.

Thank you!

Dave

We've made a change in how the tutorials are sent to new members. Instead of weekly messages you can now work at your own pace, so this is the last message.

How is it going so far? Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions?

We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

PS Sometimes links don't work in emails. You can always find a link that works in the public comments on your profile.

Hi Shannon,

It's time for your next stop on the guided tour!

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, G2G forum, and projects. Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!

Please let me know if you have questions. :-)

Shannon--

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Edit a Profile.

If the link doesn't work in your email, you can find it in the public comments on your profile page. Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just click the name above any comment, then ask in the comment section of that volunteer's page

Hi there! My name is Vicky (Freeth) Majewski and I am a WikiTree Mentor.

I'm just checking in to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far? Any questions? Any issues?

Feel free to contact me via my profile page. I am happy to help!

Thank you for volunteering! I am pleased to confirm your membership to WikiTree.

As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree. Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of us in the G2G forum. Feel free to jump in and answer our Question Of The Week: Were any of your ancestors involved in the American Indian Wars?

If you have trouble with the links in this message, try clicking through from your profile page.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer your questions.

Hello and welcome to WikiTree!

The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different from other genealogy websites because our goal is to create one big family tree with ONE PROFILE PER PERSON. This means we all work together on our shared ancestors.

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests. It can be a name, like SMITH, or a place, like AUSTRALIA. Be sure to click the "Enter Tag(s) and Volunteer" button when you finish!

After you volunteer, one of us will be by to confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family!

Hope to see you soon!

Vicky
