I have lived most of my life in St. Louis, Missouri. My mother was from Ohio and Indianapolis. My father was born in Sioux City, Iowa but lived most of his life in St. Louis. I grew up in Maplewood with my twin sister and younger brother. I have two children and three grandchildren. I went to Lutheran South High School in St. Louis and then to the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. I received a Degree in Fine Arts and my husband a Degree in Journalism. I met my husband in Columbia. He was from Independence, Mo.
My husband is an ancestor of George Gordon who left Scotland around 1700 and his son Henry Gordon who settled in Antrim township. Franklin County, Pennsylvania in 1734. Janet Skene was the mother of George Gordon, Jr. Janet Skene and George Gordon Sr. were the parents of George Gordon Jr. George Gordon Jr. married Mary Elisabeth Sarah Forbes and had a son Henry Gordon. Henry Gordon married Sarah Johnston and they had a daughter named Elizabeth Gordon. Elizabeth married Dr. Samuel Smith and in 1798 they settled in the west frontier of St. Louis. This is the Chesterfield area.
