Biography

My brother Skip and I started genealogy many years ago. Typically, we research Mom's maiden name, which is Giffin. Although, I've branched out nationally and have 24 different Giffin / Giffen family trees. Some of this extented family communicates on the Giffin Family History page on Face Book. We can post information there, but it's difficult to organize it in a meaningful way. I've accumulated several Giffin family histories. Additionally, I enjoy linking up family members at Find A Grave. I share most of my sources and information, except for that of people still living.

Terry was born in 1953. He is the son of Joseph Magyar and June Giffin. Terry is still living. [1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Terry by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Terry:

Hello, Terry!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hello Terry,

Thanks for having a Big Heart and taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans as it explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers.

Hello Terry. It's been many years since we collaborated on the Griffith gravestones at Hopewell Cemetery in Ohio. When I stumbled on these hidden but historic stones on a research trip from California, I knew they were significant to our mutual Griffith family history. You were the first person I contacted. You almost immediately went to the old cemetery site, took photos, enhanced them and interpreted them to reveal our mutual family history. Your interpretation led to the connection of the Hopewell Griffiths to the Griffiths of Gunpowder Meeting, Baltimore Co. MD. Thank you. Terry.

Good morning, Terry. One of the sources you sent to me is listed as an inline reference #2 for Giffen-80 I added the second source under the Sources Heading. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Give yourself a month or two to get used to the WikiTree way of citing sources and you will learn to love it as much as I do!

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hello--

You have been a member about a week. How is it going so far? Was the first page of the How-Tos helpful or did it leave you with questions?

When you click the green tags on your profile page, you can see if other members are following that tag. Add locations, Country, County or town the more tags you add the more links to community & research options

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile, links will work from there.

Any problems or queries just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.
