About the Merrills spelling. I tried to correct the s out of Merrill but Wiki throws question mark that goes straight to instruction page. I did merge one Merrill after dropping the s, but, I can't find my way back to the correction box.

I just noticed that you had adopted some profiles and was coming over to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention those profiles need.

When I got here, I found the questions and comments that you had posted. Because of the way the messaging service works at WikiTree, no one gets notified about comments you put on your own profile. That's why it's recommended to post to the public comments on another person's profile or ask questions in the G2G forum.

It is always a thrill when I go back to a file (like my old FTM) and finds meticulous notes from 10 or 20 years back. Did I do that? yep.

I'm afraid I am a fast information scavenger..always marching to the end of the story but the story never ends! It's as if I were reading a book and going faster and faster toward the end. I was always quick with the right info before publication dates! Now I have so much info gathered over so many years, in so many spots. Wikitree is a blessing to make me stop and organize.

wondering. How does wikitree fix a mistake? On a tree managed by someone else, they have a child who only lived two years, married and an entire line coming from that child. I have proof the child died at the age of 2 and was born somewhere else. @ children were mixed up...happens alot I know...How does wikitree fix this?

The original BArbour slips of paper that have references of where the material came from are at the state library in CT...and are available at familyhistory centers. Info was organized and bound much later! I never knew that.

I'm pondering citations for the BArbour collection. In days past I would check out vl. of this series from our univ. library. citations for that are simple..MLA version: White, Lorraine Cook, and Christina Bailey. The Barbour Collection of Connecticut Town Vital Records. Baltimore, Md.: Genealogical Pub. Co., 1994..with vlm and page number added. Now, the series is also on the web..the oldest site was JAne Devlins www.dunhamwilcox.net which was a godsend when I could not get the the library. Now ancestry has BArbour online. How would I add a citation from my Yales, from Barbour from info I gleaned from the web? Ancestry does not give vlm and page number and neither does Jane's website. The best thing to do is to go into the library and search the books again for vl and page number?

My husband has found a few DNA relatives in England through his Simpsons and Hannahs...on ancestry..I ..(one on the Isle of Wright) .but they have not done their line back to 1788 when Robert Hannah was born in Adams Co..we assume Robert's parent or grands came from Belfast area...but who knows. We joined the Clan Hannay anyway....ancestry says areas of relatives for me today, would be around London..for my husband, , county Cork and other places. That's kind of fun since my ancestors came from all over England...way back..(and Sweden) .the most important thing is is verify every line as far back as I can go which is why Wiketree is so important. I also have a Durphy supposed to be Irish which is a dead end in upstate New York, Delaware Co.
