Richard Lumkyn, son of Richard Lumkyn, was baptized in Boxted, Essex, England on December 16, 1582.[1][2]
Marriage
Richard married Sarah Baker in Boxted on October 20, 1614.[3]
Death; Estate
The inventory of the estate of Richard Lumpkyn of Ipswich was take on 23: 9: 1642 (November 23, 1642) by Robert Payne and John Whipple and totaled over £296, consisting mostly of £200 in debts owed to him.[4]
Chronology of Records
1638. Rich'd Lumkin was included in a list of men admitted as a freeman of the Massachusetts Bay Colony on May 2, 1638.[5]
1638. Richard Lumpkin sold to John Tuttell on July 27, 1638 a house and house lot in Ipswich and other lands, including a lot that Lumpkin had purchased from Richard Saltonstall.[6]
1639. At an Ipswich town meeting in February 1638/9, William Hubbard and Richard Lumkin were appointed to lay out a land grant to Mr. Bartholmew.[7]
1639. At an Ipswich town meeting on February 18, 1638/9, Mr. Simonds, Mr. Bartholmew and Richard Lumkin were appointed to lay out a lot granted to Mr. William Knight.[7]
1639. A Court held at Ipswich March 1638/9 to settle the estate of Humfrey Wise, appointed George Gitting and Richard Lumpkyn as overseers for this children.[8]
1639. Capt Robert Keayne, Leift Sprage, Mr Hauthorne, Mr Joseph Cooke, Wiill Heathe, Humfrey Atherton, Rchrd Lumpkin, Mr Mayhewe, mr Holiock, Mr Rauson, Edmond Hubberd, Senior, & Edward Baytes were appointed to a committee to levy 1000.[9]
1643. At an Ipswich town meeting on March 27, 1643, Thomas Howlett "shalbe in the roome of" (ie, was substituted for) Richard Lumpkin.[10]
1643. At an Ipswich town meeting on December 25, 1643, the town agreed to pay "widdow Lumpkin" for provisions to soldiers to the Indians and for materials for the meeting house.[11]
