Biography

Private Herbert Varty was Killed in Action during World War II.

Herbert Rex Boyd Varty was born in about 1920. He was the son of Herbert Varty and Nellie Stoddart.

He was employed as a Civil Servant.

Herbert served as a Private in the 2nd World War with the 1st Royal Natal Carbineers. Service Number: 4497

Tragically he was killed in action on 22 February 1941. He was just 21 years of age. He is memorialised at Yellowwood Church Cemetery, Bulwer, Natal, South Africa.^[1]

Herbert was buried at Nairobi War Cemetery, Kenya^[2]. Cemetery/memorial reference: 2. F. 13.
