Herbert Rex Boyd Varty was born in about 1920. He was the son of Herbert Varty and Nellie Stoddart.
He was employed as a Civil Servant.
Herbert served as a Private in the 2nd World War with the 1st Royal Natal Carbineers. Service Number: 4497
Tragically he was killed in action on 22 February 1941. He was just 21 years of age. He is memorialised at Yellowwood Church Cemetery, Bulwer, Natal, South Africa.[1]
Herbert was buried at Nairobi War Cemetery, Kenya[2]. Cemetery/memorial reference: 2. F. 13.
