Hi Stella, I have sent you a personal email. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hello Stella, I see that you have added profiles with the only source being "personal information." For example, Johann Gottfried Herberts (1735-). This isn't sufficient; see When_should_the_Unsourced_Research_Note_Box_be_used. I've sent you a private email with advice on some tools that could help you; check your spam folder, sometimes they get routed there. ~ Deb, Wikitree volunteer
Hi Stella,

Thank you for your interest in working on pre-1700 profiles! I noticed you created a few of these yesterday, using "Personal Information" as the source. This is just a friendly reminder that this is not sufficient to source these profiles, which should only be created with a reliable source. If a record you used qualifies as reliable, it should be cited specifically in the profile, with enough descriptive information to identify the type of record, who it is for, and where it can be accessed (physical or virtual location, or both).

The profiles I noticed were Gertrud Haetgen-1, Hernrich Schuette-383, Elisabeth Bruening-138, Petrus Schuette-385, and Joannis Schuette-382. These people were all born in Germany, so I suggest you start with a review of Germany Project Reliable Resources for ideas on the types of sources available for you to use.

I hope this helps you in creating profiles for our important and widely-shared deep ancestors!

Hi Stella

Regarding names and place names on the South African profiles

Her is a link to assist you  : https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:South_African_Roots/Sources2

Warm regards

R

I see that you are a new member. It is going to take a while to get you through this. You removed the required headers and style formatting on the profiles. I can only hope this is not a new standard with Gedcom imports.

Take for example Moes-226 see the changes https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Moes-226&diff=99313486&oldid=94482398 The headers on the left in red are required on every profile on WikiTree. You will have to add it back manually. Do that first and message me so that I can help you if you did it wrong

Hi Stella,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profile. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention profiles need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi, Stella,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Based on your tags the Germany Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Hello Stella!

You've been a member for a while so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Stella, you are all set as a confirmed member of WikiTree now. I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

Check out the New Member How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information in those pages.

If you have questions about how WikiTree works, let me know and I will find answers. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
