I have a stumbling block as I cannot find my maternal grandmother’s parents. On her marriage certificate in December 1911, Margaret Williams was a born circa 1884 and her father, Thomas Williams was a Slate Quarry Overseer. In the census of the same year, Peggy Williams was living at the same address as shown on Margaret’s marriage certificate. Peggy’s birth was shown to be in Egypt but has the notation “British citizen by parentage”. There is a further strange thing and that is on my mother’s birth certificate (March 1912) her mother’s name is shown as Higgins formerly Cordoon. Cordoon is such an uncommon surname. Unfortunately my grandmother died in 1918. My mother’s siblings all show my grandmother’s maiden name as Williams. Any help from fellow genealogists would be v
