I am a descendant of the Adair family from Lawrence County, Alabama. They lived in/on the "Sims" farm and some were buried in/near that farm. I personally knew five of George Adair and Lee Sparks Adair's children. I am a direct descendant of their daughter, Betsy Elizabeth (Bettie) Adair Shaddix, died 1968. She is their only child that had natural children that lived to adulthood. My father, Albert Price Adair, was born out of wedlock and his father (circumstances questionable) is allegedly Street Slaten (spelling?). We know that Street Slaten claimed him as his son because after Street's death, his wife on her deathbed, told their children of my father's existence. They located him and they visited on and off until his death. Many of these relatives were also in and around Lawrence and Morgan counties in Alabama. Her other natural children are: Fannie Louise Adair Winkles Bailey, b. May 20, 1932, d. 20??, Johnny Houston Adair b. August 24 1934?, still living, and Lula Mae Adair McGaughy, b. April 25, 19??, died November 1987.

George and Lee Adair Children: Betsy Elizabeth (Bettie) Adair Shaddix, George Houston Adair b. November 26, 1901 unmarried, Frances Pranola (Nolie) Adair, b. March 19??, unmarried, St. Valentine (Valley) Adair, born February 14, 19??, unmarried and are all buried at Barnett Chapel Church off Barnett Road in Winston County.

John Westley Adair, b? d?, unmarried. Believed to be buried on/near Sims Place in Lawrence County. Fannie Adair Jenkins, B. September 26, 19??, d. 1985/86, buried Liberty Grove Cemetery in Lawrence County by husband, Joseph Jenkins. No Children.

Levi Adair m. Renor Minor, buried at Alexander Cemetery and noted on the "Find a Grave Website" as Willie L. Adair on the tombstone. Notes also say he is the father of Carl Houston Adair...this isn't correct. Carl was the son of Renor's sister, Donie (spelling) that Levi and Renor raised as their own. Not sure if it was ever a formal adoption, but he went by Adair. Levi and Renor also had a child Collins, that was stillborn.

I can contribute some personal knowledge of the Adair family in Lawrence and Winston County Alabama. I'm happy to share that knowledge/any knowledge that I can confirm. There is a lot of potential information that I've gleaned from searches and conversations that may not be verifiable and I'd prefer not to add that information...but I might be able to point out to the contributor places to research the information further. Thanks to all of you that are adding and contributing as you go.
