Biography

Lucy Anna Baker was born on January 3, 1846 in Greenville, Monroe County, Virginia. Her parents were John H. Baker & Lucinda Harvey.

Lucy Anna Baker married James Harrison Broyles on November 16, 1865 in Greenville, Monroe County, Virginia. His parents were Andrew Jackson Broyles & Sarah McGhee. James Harrison Broyles had fought for the Confederacy and was taken prisoner at the 3rd Battle of Winchester and sent to prisoner of war camp at Point Lookout, Maryland on September 23, 1864. He was freed on March 15, 1865, nine months before their marriage, through a prisoner exchange.
