Joseph Bourg was born around 1711 in Acadie, Nouvelle-France. His parents were Jean Baptiste Bourg and Marie Catherine Barrieau.

He married Marie Françoise Dugas about 1735. ^[1]

The family was recorded on the 1752 La Roque census at Rivière du Nord-Est (North side), Isle Saint-Jean, Acadie. Joseph, a ploughman, had brought Marie Françoise and the children to the island one year earlier. They already had livestock and had made a garden on their land. ^[2]

He married Marie Josèphe Henry on July 15, 1754 in Port-Lajoie. ^[1][3]. Note that the marriage record says his mother was Francoise Aucoin but she was thought to be his stepmother after marrying his father in 1719. She was probably at the wedding and her relationship may have been assumed.

He died in December 1758 in France and was buried on 8 December 1758 at Très-Sainte-Trinité, Cherbourg, Normandie, France . ^[1]

   They have four sons and four daughters:-

   Agnès, aged 14 years.
   Isabelle, aged 12 years.
   Marie Françoise, aged 8 years.
   Margueritte Josephe, aged 6 years.
   They have live stock as follows: four oxen, one cow, one calf, two sows and three pigs. The land upon which they are settled was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure. On it they have made a garden.
