Biography

John Henry Branham was born about 1773 in Montgomery County, Virginia Colony. He was the son of David Branham Sr and Frances Baskett. He married Martha Elswick Finch on 20 Jan 1794 at the James River, Montgomery County, Virginia. After their marriage they probably lived in Montgomery County, Virginia for several years. Some of their children were born in Montgomery and Bedford Counties in Virginia.

They migrated to the mouth of Mud Creek near Harold in Floyd County, Kentucky then later moved to Shelby County, Tennessee..They lived in Floyd County during the 1810's and 1820's, [1] In the 1830's and until 1843, they were living seven miles north of Pikeville at Dorton in Pike County near the Pike/Floyd County line.[2] (Pike County had been formed from part of Floyd County).

In 1843 they sold their property in Pike County, Kentucky and moved to Pound in Russell County, Virginia.[3] The area in Russell County where they lived became Wise County shortly thereafter.

John Henry was the son of David Sr. Branham and Frances Baskett.
