Hi :-) My interest in this family is that I have an elusive Stehman ancestor, and many many DNA matches with people who descend from Melchior and Elizabeth, so I've been delving a lot lately into their origins.
I wouldn't be too quick to say Christian and Christopher are the same person. I think it's just as possible that their birth and death dates have been muddled/attributed to both. I notice in this bio that Christopher is 1693, rather than 1695.
Thanks for catching my mistake. Gerberich's well documented research shows that they were clearly different men. The birth dates of the two are somewhat conjectural, but these dates that they share on the profiles are attributed to Christian in the book, and Christopher is believed to be a couple of years older and is confirmed to have died in 1758 not 1757.
I'll set these as rejected matches and add the correct links from Gergerich.
Hello, The citation for The Brenneman History cites the incorrect page number. Christian of Conestoga's record is on page 32-34 of The Brenneman History. Page 732 is Christian of TOWAMENCIN who is a contemporary and cousin of this Christian, Christian of CONESTOGA but not the same person.
Brenneman-186 and Brenneman-163 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate; sources are better in Brenneman-186; no record of Brenneman family arriving in Pennsylvania prior to 1715, as indicated in -163, should be corrected as part of the merge
Brenneman-262 and Brenneman-186 appear to represent the same person because: The inconsistent birthplaces may be due to father Melchior's having been born in Switzerland and then serving communities in Rhein-Hessen and the Pfalz before emigrating to Pennsylvania in 1709.
