I have had a really hard time finding accurate family documents. Our names are usually misspelled (first & last) and often times middle names are missing from Birth Certificates, which makes me wonder if people used to just make them up later in life?
Currently I have working on correcting all the errors on my grandmother's DEATH certificate and in doing so, I need to provide Birth Certificates and then found out that my grandmother was using the wrong birth date all her life and her mother's maiden name is misspelled on her Birth Certificate, making me need to find my great grandmother's Birth Certificate now. YIKES!?
You wouldn't believe all the errors on just ONE (1) document - my grandmother's 1st name, her birth date, her occupation and my uncle, who registered her death WRONG

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
I came in to see if someone had already given you the DNA message (I see that the wonderful Lothar did it), but I read your message, and I have to laugh. That's a lot of things to correct. Good for you.
One of the things I like to do is help profiles that have been abandoned with bits missing. Recently, I came across a man named Neal Something, no birth or death record, no locations. Somehow I found out that his real name is Cornelius, that one census record said he was born in Ohio in 1842 and the next that he was born in Michigan in 1838. People just weren't too particular back in the day, I guess.
