Louise (Doby) Capps was born in North Carolina.
Bessie Louise Doby was born on 19 Nov 1939 in Guilford County, North Carolina to Rev Troy Lee Doby Sr and Bessie (Lynch) Doby.[1][2]
On the 1940 Census she was 6 months old and lived with her parents and siblings in Rock Creek Township, Guilford County, NC. It is believed that this is when the family lived on Judge Adams Road, between Little Alamance Creek and Interstate 40/85. As of 2023, the rock foundation of the house is still in place.

Louise was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Whitsett, NC. In 1956 the church split and Louise's family helped to create Whitsett Baptist Church (now First Baptist of Whitsett).[3] Louise was the pianist for the church and In the early years she was a member of the Gospel Echoes. She remained a member there for the rest of her life, serving as pianist, choir member, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and florist. She was always present when the church doors were open.
She graduated from Gibsonville High School in 1957.
In 1960 she was working as a clerk at Jefferson Pilot Life Insurance Company in downtown Greensboro, Guilford County, NC.
On June 2, 1962 she married Archie Capps at First Baptist Church of Whitsett, NC. [4] The church was located in an old store across from the Whitsett ballfield on Highway N.C 61. Among the bride's maids were Nancy Patrum, and Edna (Whitesell) Martines. Her sister, Viola (Doby) Whitesell was the Maid of Honor. The groom's men included her brothers Troy Jr. and Coy, and her new brothers-in-law Ward and Sam Capps.
In 1984, the familiy moved from Gibsonville, temorarily, to Burlington, NC, while a house was being built in Graham, NC.
She passed away on October 26, 2020 due to complications from Alzheimer's, and was buried at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, NC.[5] She had two children and three grandchildren when she passed away.

Obituary

Louise Doby Capps, 80, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Coble Creek Healthcare. She was born on November 19, 1939 in Guilford County to the late Troy Lee Doby, Sr. and Bessie Lynch Doby and was the wife of 58 years to Archie “Andy” Marion Capps who survives.
Louise was a founding member of First Baptist Church of Whitsett and spent her life in service to the Lord. She was the church pianist for over 40 years and also served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, and choir member. She spent several hours every week preparing the floral arrangements for the Sunday services. She took great joy in being a wife, mother and friend. She was always active in her children’s and families’ lives and was known as “Aunt Lulu” by many of her nieces and nephews. Louise spent much time visiting the sick and shut-in, helping people in need, and talking with people when they simply needed someone to listen.
Survivors other than her husband, Archie “Andy” Capps, include her daughter, Amy Capps Cloer (Lee); a son, Allan Capps; grandchildren, Cassidy, Austin and Mackenzie Cloer; a sister, Viola Whitesell (Gaynor); brothers, Coy Doby and James Doby (Becky), sisters-in-law Linda Doby, Brenda Doby and Joy Doby, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Troy Doby, Jr. and Paul Doby.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Twin Lakes Coble Creek facility and Touched by Angels for their excellent care of Louise.[6]
