Biography

Abraham Gaudet was born about 1679 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, son of Pierre Gaudet (abt. 1652–aft. 1714) and Anne Blanchard (abt. 1645–abt. 1714).

In 1686, at Port Royal, Abraham, aged 7, was living with his parents, Pierre GAUDET, aged 35, and Anne BLANCHARD, aged 41, and half-sibling Giraud [sic], aged 20, and six siblings: Bernard, aged 13, Pierre, aged 11, Claude, aged 9, Marie, aged 4, Magdelaine [sic], aged 4, and Jeanne, aged 2. They were living on 4 arpents of cultivable land with 10 hogs.[1]

In 1693, at Port Royal, Abraham, aged 13, was living with his parents, Pierre GODET [sic], the elder, aged 41, and Anne BLANCHARD, aged 48, and his eight siblings: Bernard, aged 19, Pierre, aged 17, Claude, aged 15, Madeleine, twin, aged 11, Marie, twin, aged 11, Jeanne, aged 9, Augustine [sic], aged 7, and Jean, aged 3. The family owned 3 guns and was living on 20 arpents of cultivable land with 10 cattle, 12 sheep, and 10 pigs.[2]

Abraham married Agnès Girouard (born in Beaubassin, (Tantramar Marshes), Acadie, Nouvelle-France; daughter of Germain Girouard and Marie Bourgeois) about 1701 in Acadie.

Their children were:

  4. Marguerite Gaudet (abt.1708-)
  5. Marie Gaudet (abt.1711-)

Abraham (34) married Marie Breau (33) (born about 1680 in Port Royal, Acadie; daughter of Vincent Breau and Marie Bourg) about 1714 in Acadie.

Their children were:

  1. Paul Gaudet (abt.1713-1733)
  2. Jean Baptiste Gaudet (~1716–1780)
  3. Marie-Josephe Gaudet (1718–1764)
  4. Agnes Gaudet (abt.1718-1786)
  5. Magdeleine Gaudet (1720–~1807)
  6. Marguerite Gaudet (abt.1723-1748)

In 1714 the family, Abraham, married to Marie Breau, with his children from his first marriage (Pierre, Anne, Marie) and Paul, lived in Beaubassin.: [3]Abraham

Abraham died in November 1728. His burial took place on 26 November 1728, in Berthier-sur-Mer, Canada, Nouvelle-France. His date of death was not mentioned in the record. He was given about 46 years of age.[4][5]
