Biography

Born about 1711 on Gleanings Plantation, Queen Anne Parish, Prince George's Co., MD

He was a farmer and constable, and took the census of Bryantown, Charles Co., MD, in 1775. He moved to Camden, SC, in 1784 and bought 205 acres on the waters of the Broad River, plat B 389, recorded Dec. 20, 1784.

Thomas Harbin and Thomas Austin Jones of Charles Co., MD, helped John Wilkes Booth in his escape from Washington, DC. (Were they kin?)


Relation? Father William's sister? p. 107, TLC Genealogy, Charles County Land Records, 1733-1743; Book O#2 Page 518. Recorded Sep 21, 1740. I, Katherine Allen of CC, widow, for the love I have for my nephew, John Hearbin (Hearben) of CC, and for divers other good causes, I have granted sd John a parcel of land in CC, it being part of a tract of land heretofore in the possession of Thomas Allen, late of CC, deceased, called Old Branford enlarged, who by his will devised the same to his now relict, the sd Katherine Allen. Sd parcel is bounded by the north side of the main Branch of Piles' Fresh, containing about 153 acres. Signed Aug 8, 1741-Katherine (X her mark) Allen. Wit -Allen Davies*, Wm Middleton*.
