Angelina Heaton was born in 1890. She was a daughter of James Heaton and Angelina Percy. Her siblings were Clothilde, Celina, James Milton, Lorenzo, Anita, Albertine, Milton James, Salome, and Raymond.
When Angelina was 14 years old, she was arrested for riding in the front of the West End Train, because she was not white. She was convicted and spent some time in jail. It was important to her family to prove that she was white, so the case was appealed. At the time, it was not known that her "Indian" mother, Angelina Percy, who was from Tamaulipas, Mexico, also had African DNA. The second trial was won, and Angelina was set free.
She married George Gilson in 1911, and died from meningitis at the young age of 21 on March 19, 1912.
