Burrell Johnson was born, a twin with his sister Mary, to Gideon Johnson and Nancy Sweat on 29 March 1829, according to bible records submitted to the Daughters of the American Revolution.[1]
Burrell's paternal grandfather and namesake served in the revolutionary forces in the United States War for Independence.[2]
However, his grave stone[3]
and his sister's[4]
both say 29 March 1830. His age in the 1850 census is consistent with an 1830 year of birth.[5]
But his sister's is consistent with an 1829 year of birth.[6]
