The family moved to Louisiana in the early 1810's or 1820's and eventually settled in Rapides Parish where Gideon and his wife were charter members of the Occupy Baptist Church in Pitkin, Rapides Parish, LA.[1] which had been founded in 1832.[3]
Gideon died 1 Aug 1854 of a fever in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.[1][2] Nancy didn't live much longer, dying on 6 Nov 1856[2] of "dyspepsia"[1] which may have been signs of a heart attack. They are both buried in the Occupy Baptist Church cemetery in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.[1][4]
