JEAN BAPTISTE GUEDRY is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana, on Plaque 6 Right, Le Bon Papa. Listed with him are his wife, Marguerite Hebert,[sic, Lebert], three children, Pierre, Francois and Margueritte Felicite, and a minor ward, Margueritte [his wife's niece, Marguerite Lebert, an orphan].[1]
Marguerite Marie Lebert was born in France in 1770, a daughter of Acadian exiles Pierre Lebert and Marguerite Boudrot. [2]
Both of her parents died in France, leaving Marguerite an orphan. When the Acadians left France in 1785 for Louisiana, Marguerite traveled to Louisiana with her paternal aunt, Marguerite Lebert, and her uncle, Jean Baptiste Guedry.[3]
