I am a Great Great Grandson of Frederick Wilhelm Leist (1800 - 1867) and Caroline Sonnenburg Leist (1808 - 1893) who lived in Treptow an der Rega, Prussia. They came to Texas on the German Ship Mississippi in 1855 landing at Galveston, Texas and settled in the Biegel Community in Fayette County, Texas. The ships records show that a family of 12 made the voyage.
