Biography
Jane Lutman was born about 1615 in England, estimate based on birth of eldest child. She was a daughter of William Lutman, husbandman of Ockley. This is proven by his will (written in 1648) in which he names her as Jane Dudley, and also names her spouse, William Dudley.[1][2]
She married William Dudley on August 24, 1636 at Ockley, Surrey, England; officient Rev. Hery Whitfield. [3]
They emigrated to Guilford, Connecticut in 1639.[4] He was a farmer.[3]
Both she and William died in Guilford, Connecticut. She on May 1, 1674 and he on March 16, 1683/4.[3]
Some say she was born in Richmond, Surrey and some say Ockley, Surrey. This will need to be determined by researching additional sources. NOTE: This is now resolved, see TAG 82:84.
