Archibald was born in 1836 in Argyll, Scotland. He was the son of George Picken and Jane Brown. ^[1]

His parents brought him to the US when he was two years old. ^[2]

Little Archie died just a few weeks past his fifth birthday. His was the first death in the Scotch Settlement. He was buried in a Poplar grove east of what became the Scottish Cemetery. When the cemetery was established his remains were moved and buried there. ^[3]
