I began working on my family tree last year, have taken the 23 and Me DNA test, have documented my findings on Family Search free website. I've used Ancestry website some but do not currently pay subscription for access. I'm curious too continue my searching and have a special interest in linking pictures I find in thrift stores with their families.

Note: last year, someone found a charming, informal picture of my grandmother with her parents, reached out to me on WikiTree, and eventually sent it to me. I had never seen the picture before, and I cherish it.

What a lovely thing to do.

Also, Ancestry can be wonderful or a bane, but you can get most of the same information for free from FamilySearch, FindaGrave, and a few other online sources. They are available through the RootsSearch link toward the bottom (right side) of open WikiTree profiles or profiles that you personally manage. Both of these sites are free. FamilySearch.org does ask that you create an account.

Finally, if you're still enjoying WikiTree in, say, 3-4 months, let me know. There's always room for another friendly Greeter.

See you on the 'Tree,

 :)

Hi Helen,

P.S. Please take your time. Finish one profile - adding locations (including countries), dates, and at least one real source - before moving to the next profile. And if you need help finding reliable information for your family members? The easiest way to find info and sources is to use the handy RootsSearch link on the right side of any profile. Use your WikiTree login to access over 20 websites. Once you find a correct source, copy and paste the citation info and add it to the profile. Learn more about sources here.

Hi Helen!

Thank you for upgrading. We are so happy to have you here in the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

I hope this helps! If you have any problems, let me know.

Happy tree climbing

Rhonda ~ WikiTree Greeter
