Footscray Football Club, also known as the Dogs, is a professional Australian Rules Football club founded in 1877, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray (west of Melbourne), joined the Victorian Football League (VFL) in 1925 as Footscray, and was renamed as Western Bulldogs in 1996. The club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) prior to 1925. Fourteen players from the Dogs are members of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, including inaugural inductee and Legend Ted Whitten.
The team's colours are Royal blue, red, white.
