Henricus (Theijs) Thijs (abt. 1792 - 1875)

Hendrik (Theijs) Thijs is geboren in Noord-Brabant in 1792

Biography

Hendrik was born on or just before 10 July 1792 in Heeze in the Netherlands as child of Peeter Thijs and Maria Thijs - Aerts. He was baptized on 10 July 1792 in the Roman Catholic church of Heeze.^[1]

On 17 January 1818 he married Dina Geenen. The marriage took place in Heeze.^[2] The couple had five children, of whom three survived until adulthood:

1. Peter Thijs (1819-1874)
2. Hendrik Hendrik Theijs (1821-1821)
3. Maria Langendonk - Thijs (1822-1881)
4. Henricus Thijs (1825-1914)
5. Hubertus Thijs (1829-1829)

His wife Dina passed away in 1829, leaving Hendrik a widower.^[3]

On 14 January 1830 Hendrik married Henrica van Bussel, his second wife. The marriage took place in Heeze.^[4] The couple had three children, of whom one survived until adulthood:

1. Goverdiena Thijs (1831-1831)
2. Peternel Thijs (1832-1832)
3. Adriana van Bree - Thijs (1834-1898)

Hendrik was a farmer.^[2][5][6]

His wife Henrica passed away in 1839, leaving Hendrik a widower for the second time.^[7] Hendrik passed away on 15 March 1875 in Heeze at the age of 82.^[5]

Research Notes

• Hendrik was baptized on 10 July 1792.^[1] In these times children were baptized as soon after birth as possible, to prevent that the child would die unbaptized (and could not go to heaven). Hence Hendrik would have been born on 10 July 1792 or in the days before.
• The following name variants are used for Hendrik:
  • Henricus Theijs on his baptism registration (Latin).^[1]
  • Hendricus Thijs on his marriage and death certificates (Dutch).^[2][4][5]
  • Hendrik Thijs in the population register of 1826-1829 (Dutch).^[6]
