Wilhelma (Theijs) Verbeek (abt. 1787 - 1836)

Biography

Wilhelmina (Theijs) Verbeek is geboren in Noord-Brabant in 1787

Wilhelmina was born on or just before 22 September 1787 as child of Dirk Thijs and Helena Maria Thijs - Vermeulen. She was baptized on 22 September 1787 in the Roman Catholic church of Heeze.^[1]

On 25 April 1822 she married Willem Verbeek. The marriage took place in Heeze.^[2] The couple had four children, of whom three survived until adulthood:

1. Hendrikus Verbeek (1823-1823)
2. Hendrikus Verbeek (1824-1882)
3. Helena Maria van Bussel - Verbeek (1825-1878)
4. Johanna Heezius - Verbeek (1826-1893)

Wilhelmina was a farmer.^[3]

Her husband Willem passed away in 1828, leaving Wilhelmina a widow.^[4] Wilhelmina passed away on 4 July 1836 in Heeze at the age of 48.^[3]

Research Notes

• Wilhelmina was baptized on 22 September 1787.^[1] In these times children were baptized as soon after birth as possible, to prevent that the child would die unbaptized (and could not go to heaven). Hence Wilhelmina would have been born on 22 September 1787 or in the days before.
• The following name variants are used for Wilhelmina:
  • Wilhelma Theijs on her baptism registration (Latin)^[1]
  • Wilhelmina Thijs on her marriage certificate (Dutch).^[2]
  • Wilmina Thijs on her death certificate (Dutch).^[3]
