    1. I believe that the "Jane Ann Douglas Crawford" name identification from many sources is totally incorrect. It appears to me that David Crawford's wife's name was Margaret Arris (not Harris) and that she was likely the daughter of John Arris. It also appears that other information noted is incorrect, such as the December 13th date that was in the year 1689, that was the date of death of David's father John Crawford (or possibly John Arris). (I have not found confirmation of the 1676 date of death for John Crawford that also is widely distributed). David Crawford died in 1710 and Margaret Crawford appears to have died soon thereafter.

Notables

Jane Ann is the 4th great granddaughter of Sir George "Malcolm" Campbell, 1449-1492, Ayrshire, Scotland.

Jane Ann is a 3rd great granddaughter of James "Earl of Arran" Hamilton. James is a member of Scottish Nobility and appears on the Magna Carta Project trail. James is the son and heir of James Hamilton, 6th Lord of Cadzow and 1st Lord Hamilton, and his wife Mary Stewart, daughter of King James II of Scotland.

Jane Ann is the 4th cousin 4 times removed of John Cabell Breckinridge, 14th Vice President, US Senator from Kentucky and 5th Confederate States Secretary of War.

Jane Ann is the 2nd cousin 6 times removed of Sam Houston. Born in Virginia, Houston was an American general and statesman who played an important role in the Texas Revolution. He also served as the sixth governor of Tennessee and the seventh governor of Texas, the only American to be elected governor of two different states in the United States. Houston, Texas is named in his honor.

Looks like a cousin of Alexander Hamilton, as well.

Jane Ann couldn't have been born in the New World as her parents never seemed to have left Ayrshire, Scotland.

This profile's 2xGGF and 2xGGM on both father and mother's side are identical, is that truly what is represented in the record? (Crawford-639 & Montgomerie-2)

I can't say for certain yet, but if this is the daughter of this Patrick and Jane, then yes. Her parents are first cousins. I haven't completed any research on the husbands line yet

Jane Ann Crawford cannot have been born in Virginia if her supposed father Patrick and mother Jane never left Scotland. Either they are not her parents or her birthplace should be in Scotland.

Also, Teresa, her parents would not have a Crawford surname. The multiple names seem to be because they were not merged properly. And there are only 2 references attached to facts so it’s hard to tell what’s right. Needs more work.....

FYI, regarding the same surname, if the indicated relationships are correct, Jane and David were 5th cousins, so the names are correct. There is some question regarding paternal lineage of David, but nothing that would dispute the surname. Hello, the profile lists that she married two David Crawford's but the biography doesn't talk about two marriages to men with same name. I assume one of these should be removed. One was born in Scotland and one was born in Virginia. Does this help determine correct husband?

Crawford-6814 and Crawford-437 appear to represent the same person because: same name, similar birth and death place, same spouse. Dates of birth and death need to be resolved/
