Hi everyone in the Gillespie line. I am a descendant of Duncan Gillespie born about
1780 in the Isle of Islay, Scotland. His son
Donald was born in 1824 and immigrated to
Canada as a young boy with his brother Duncan who was 2 years younger. I am unsure of the rest of the family as to how many came to Canada. Nor am I sure that
the father Duncan came to Canada since it
may have just been the mother with some of her relatives.
My older brother Donald has undergone a DNA test and I will submit the results once
I pull the file.
Our Gillespie ancestors settled in Thorah
in Brock Township Ontario near Beaverton.
Some of them moved to Lutterworth in
Haliburton County and some moved to
Saskatchewan, BC and USA in later years.
