The colors of the German flag are (from top to bottom) black, red and gold (not yellow, although in most cases the fabric is painted in somewhat dark yellow)

I haven't seen a picture of this flag on wikitree, but you can find examples on the German Wikipedia page. The English Wikipedia page doesn't seem to cover all aspects to me.

Did you happen to see L. König's G2G question about how to condominiums in the location field? He and I have been working on this together, both of us having ancestors born in such. Mine is from Obergimpern in 1697, the lands of which were ruled jointly by two Baronies. It seems unsatisfying to just put "Obergimpern, Heiliges Römisches Reich" and then describe the details in the bio. But that may be the only option. Do you have any insight?
yes I answered the question and wrote who I would do it. For the image I will do a test and then respond.

I was wondering if it was sensible to upload the flag of the Kingdom of Hannover from 1814-1837? Please see 1801–1810 Flagge des Kurfürstentums, 1814–1837 Flagge des Königreichs. https://www.flaggenlexikon.de/fdthanno.htm#Flaggen
Thanks, Sven
Delete or leave in?
Could you please add a picture of the flag of The Kingdom of Hanover. I have almost 3000 profiles in my group of emigrants from Hanover I would like to use this flag in those profiles. While I could do it myself (and have) I think it should also be represented on this page. >>>>I uploaded this image Wahlert-24.png

I have now created a mini-space for Fürstbistum Osnabrück and fiddled with the coat of arms here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bergman-147
Three questions:
With Frans Bergman's profile, If I understand correctly,
1. I should use the nonmigrating ancestor template
2. I should not use migrating ancestor template (because the coat of arms was not a flag), - although it looks fairly nice?
3. Can I create a template so that I can create the non-migrating ancestor sticker for Fürstbistum Osnabrück more easily?
Thanks again for your guidance, Sven

1. Yes
2. You can use any image with the nonmigrating ancestor template - so use the COA
3. I'm pretty sure that if you want a new template on WikiTree, you have to request it (propose it on G2G and get support to show that many members will use it). IMO, its easier to just copy/paste the nonmigtrating ancestor coding.
Hope that helps! Best. Traci

I donot mind showing the present-day German Flag on profiles for people who were born before or after Der Deutsche Bund existed, or before Die Bundesrepubliek Deutschland existed, but it would be more historically correct and more interesting to show the flag of the appropriate Kurfürstentum within Das Heilige Römische Reich (-1806), or the schwarz-weiß-rot Flag of Das Deutsche Kaiserreich (1871-1919).

By the way, there were only 6, later 10 electorates. These were the rulers of the states that elected the German king and Roman emperor. To take only them would completely neglect, for example, larger states.

Just click on the link to the time period, then search by location. :-)
Thanks again for all this info Dieter - it is a priceless collection!
