I created a profile for Wade Weathers-1547

You just changed his name to Thomas Wade Weathers. Can you please share your source for that info ? Perhaps you confused his SON Thomas' numident for Wade ? I already had that source on the profile correctly identified as belonging to his son Thomas. Please let me know if you don't have a source so I can change it back to my original info. Thanks

We hope you can join the MidAtlantic Team for the 2023 Source-a-thon. It will start 8 am EDT on Friday, September 29th and end at 8 am on Monday, October 2nd. The Source-a-thon is different from the Connect-a-thon in that we will be improving existing profiles. To register for the Source-a-thon, please answer this post:

Hello Nikki,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It is very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thank you Wendy, that is very kind of you to offer help. I am new to this but my paternal grandmother researched and wrote a book with my mother on my Stegall side of the family. I’m going to start here with the ones I know and then break out the book to fill in more. The other reason for starting this is because my grandmother had 14 brothers and sisters and my grandfather had 11 brothers and sisters. I don’t know all my cousins. I felt real bad that I went through high school with some of them and didn’t realize they were cousins. Anyway thank you for offing help I really appreciate it.

Hi Nikki

I am pleased to welcome you as a member of the WikiTree family. Your contributions will go a long way to joining the world’s trees together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am here to answer any question you have about WikiTree. Please add as much information as you can, with sources, as it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point.

Take your time, keep track of sources, and ask questions. Check here for tips.

Have fun collaborating on your ancestors

Wendy ~ WikiTree Greeter
