I have been researching the Strong family and their many descendants for the past 40 years. Have now come to a stand still and thought I would try Wikitree and see if I can get past my stumbling block. We have had DNA testing done and our English side is a perfect match to the Strong family from Mississippi. Though I have the family from USA but can not find the Strong who went from England to USA in about 1720's that will join the families up. There were at the time two ships, captained by a Strong that went from Greenwich England to North Carolina, maybe he jumped on board, being a family member. There is no record. Edward Strong abt 1730's (died Aug 1777) is the first one to be born in Mississippi and the start of that line. Though there is a "spare" Nathanial and John, which have no match, with bets on John being Edward's father, no proof. If anyone can help sort out this puzzle would be grateful.

I noticed that you have been changing profiles to remove details about their birth/marriage/death, setting the name Unknown, then disconnecting them from parents/spouses/children. Instead, these profiles should have dates, locations and sources as they represent real people. Do you need some help?

Here's a suggestion for your Wallis family.... When you find that you have the whole incorrect family connected, they are probably still part of another family. Leave their names, dates and locations but just disconnect them from what is incorrect (if I'm reading your email correctly, just disconnect Thomas and leave the remainder as a family). The best way to stop someone else from (re) making the wrong connection is to add a note about this on the profile -- either prominently at the top or inside Research Notes. Of course, adding sources that distinguish these folks is the best thing to do.
It's really not recommended to remove the names and other details, since these are valid people (assuming there is some source) that will connect to some family somewhere.
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz. As Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within a project is good working collaboratively is essential
Please ensure there is a location and that the location data matches the dates of the profile. Avoid abbreviations, add sources with citations & links for sources to support the data. From wiki ID from the dropdown menu go to Research to start looking for sources. Let me know if you require assistance. I am happy to help. After adding my own family and ancestors I have found many cousins and distant ancestors here on WikiTree.

To Volunteer just add any surnames of interest into Tags so that you have one tag for each surname and location. By doing that, when you are confirmed as a full member you can then click on those tags, and you'll be taken to a page where you'll see other genealogists who are also following those surnames and locations. I really encourage you to explore the connections it helps you make. :-) Don't forget to Check the Volunteer Box. The button to click is at the bottom of the page and says Add tags and Volunteer. It is rectangular. When you have done that one of our Greeters will confirm you as a full member so that you can Edit your Profile and enter information into WikiTree. Gilly, PS If you encounter a problem let me know so that I can help
