Register now for the 2022 Source-a-Thon! [closed]

Question

Many of us have been anxiously waiting for the big annual event, the Source-a-Thon. This is our seventh, and it is as popular as ever! Last year we added almost 57,000 sources to profiles! Let's rock it again and beat that total.

The event starts on Friday, September 30 at 8AM EDT (Noon UTC) and runs until Monday, October 3 at 8AM EDT (Noon UTC) [time zone calculator]. There will be $4,000+ in door prizes donated from around the genealogy community, live video hangouts every four hours, around-the-clock chatting, and lots of fun.

Will you join us? To register, just click the ANSWER button (comments at the top will be hidden once read) and say "Sign me up!" and include your team choice or a few words about your location and/or genealogical interests so we can assign a team. Registration ends at midnight EDT on Wednesday, September 28th.

This is my 1st time & this is all new.
2Qs 1: I have a Discord acct. I use in the England Project. Can I use it for this program?
2. Are the unsourced files for my Team sent to me?

I'm not getting the option to use the tracker for regular monthly sourcing.  I hoped I could do this, so I'm not sure what to do now, tracker-wise. Help?

Hal, if you have a discord account, and have been assigned to a 'Thon Team, that Team should appear in your available discord channels.  
Check with your Team regards where to find unsourced profiles for the area covered.  Otherwise, you can probably work on unsourced from other areas as well.  (All teams allow for this, even if their main focus is a specific region.)

AmyLynn, my understanding is that the tracker is turned off for everything except the Source-a-Thon, and will be returned to normal after the 'Thon ends on Monday.

Hi Hal. WikiTree uses a different server than the England project. You are definitely welcome to join! 

You can work any Unsourced list. Your team has different lists posted, by County.

Thanks Cheryl! I didn't realize that we are pretty closely related by marriage (14 degrees) via the Powers family line. I haven't seen too many connections via this route. We are also distantly related by blood - 18th cousins, once removed through my father's mother descendants. Hope I have some time to participate in the upcoming Source-a-Thon. It will be my first! I signed up, but we are expecting a grandchild about that time, so I don't know how much time I will be able to devote.

Sign me up! So exciting! My team choice is Team Virginia. I've got an arsenal of Virginia resources, both online and in my private library, and I've been documenting my Virginia ancestors since 2008. It's as if once I got my line traced back to Virginia - the Mother of States - I was smitten. I'm relatively new to WikiTree - only 3 months or so - but it quickly became my favorite site to record my lineage. I'm DAR and was formerly on the America 250! Membership Task Force (invitation only) that tackles problem applications for prospective members, until the task force got revamped this past summer. I know the importance of documentation and source citation, and I look forward to helping!  Thanks for considering me for the team.
