I was born in New Zealand growing up in the town of Waipu. I am currently living in Ireland.
My ancestors immigrated from Europe mostly in the mid to late 1800's. The table below indicates the surnames of my immigrating ancestors, where they came from and what year they immigrated in. A lot of these families were involved in the creation of new settlements in New Zealand including Waipu, Puhoi and Maungaturoto.
Surname | Origin | Destination | Year |
Cullen | Nottingham, England | Maungaturoto, New Zealand | 1863 |
Bowmar | Nottingham, England | Maungaturoto, New Zealand | 1864 |
Baldock | Lincolnshire, England | Australia | 1840 |
McKay | Scotland via Nova Scotia | Waipu, New Zealand | 1851 |
Stewart | Scotland via Nova Scotia | Waipu, New Zealand | 1857 |
Guntern/ren | Switzerland via England | New Zealand | 1921 |
Atkinson | Cumberland, England | New Zealand | 1921 |
Dodd | Lancashire, England | New Zealand | ? |
Copley | Yorkshire, England | New Zealand | 1862 |
Ramsbottom | India (British Army) | Australia / New Zealand | 1854 (AU) |
Morrow | County Cavan, Ireland | Australia/ New Zealand | ? |
Mason | County Down, Ireland | Australia/ New Zealand | ? |
Wech | Bohemia | Puhoi, New Zealand | 1865 |
Wright | Norfolk, England | Tasmania, Australia/New Zealand | 1835 (AU) |
Green | Norfolk, England | Tasmania, Australia/New Zealand | 1841 (AU) |
Thomson | Scotland | New Zealand | 1859 |
My ancestors were mostly farmers. Many left their home countries due to hard times or being evicted from their land. Two were convicts sent to Australia. There are also some sailors and members of the British army in India.

Thanks you Paula for your support.
Kindest regards Mark Joines
Thanks for the improvements to my great-grandparent's profile Harry Stevens/Maud Smith, adding NZBDM and other sources (eg war records) to all family profiles is on the agenda, but I never would have thought of that probate file at Archives, I'll have to have a look at it.
I tried that Archives link, and I only get "internal error" message, any ideas?
Kia ora Paula,
The time has come again for the Connect-A-Thon, and we would be thrilled if you could join the Kiwi Crew once more. It's a breeze to participate—all you have to do is craft fresh profiles for individuals who have yet to be linked, and hopefully, they'll connect with the World Tree.
To sign up, head to the post, where you'll receive your Connect-a-Thon badge and be added to the team. When registering, please don't forget to mention the Kiwi Crew.
For additional details, please take a look at the Kiwi Crew Team page.
Happy WikiTreeing!

To register, post an answer on this Post saying "Yes, I'd like to participate with the KiwiCrew". Once registered, you will receive your Source-a-Thon Bib and badge.

His baptism record is Otto Adolf Wiechern
The original copy of his marriage certificate shows him as Otto Adolph Wiechern and occupation as a farmer.
He was definitely a seaman, his naturalisation (10 Oct 1890) shows him as a mariner, and he has signed it as Otto Adolf Wiechern.
Electoral roll 1919, Central Wellington has him as Otto Adolph Wiechern
The death certificate and death notice definitely has the Herman, so perhaps it was a nickname?
Regards Greg

You and my kids are a DNA match, via Ancestry.com. A 9cM match with one of them, 16cM with another. DNA confirms the documentary trail which has you and my kids as 5th cousins once removed, common ancestors being John BALDOCK & Sabina BEE.
I have a couple of online discussion groups for your BALDOCK & BEE lines. See:

Cheers, Steven
I have recently adopted a profile (Perfect-135, my wife's Great-grandmother) which you created in mid-2018. Thank you for starting the ball rolling. I would very much appreciate your advising me, if possible, of any sources you have found for dates, places and details, if any, for birth and/or baptism/christening of Emma Perfect. I regret to say that I've been totally unsuccessful in locating such source information and trust that you please may be able to help. My thanks in advance for any/all assistance you are able to provide. Stay well, stay safe. Best regards.....Phil (Grace-883)
