Biography

Katherine Hopton^[1][2]

Katherine was the daughter of Elizabeth Wolryche and Edward Hopton.^[1][3] Her birth date is unknown. Marlyn Lewis estimates it as about 1525^[2] but it may well have been later.

Katherine Hopton married firstly Thomas Anderson, of London, grocer,^[1][4] son and heir of Thomas Anderson. The marriage date is uncertain bu may have been about 1545.^[1] Thomas's will was proved on 20 March 1553/4.^[1]

Katherine Hopton married secondly, as his second wife, about 1554 Walter Garraway,^[1][3] citizen and draper of London, who was buried at St. Mary Colechurch, London, on 31 Jan 1571/2.^[1]

Katherine Hopton was a resident of Chiswick, Middlesex, when she wrote her will dated 18 Sep 1598 and proved 16 Feb 1598/9.^[1][2]
