Biography

Hannah (Woodbury) Haskell immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Hannah Woodbury was baptized Misterton, Somersetshire, England, 13 September 1629.[1] She was the daughter of William Woodbury and his wife, Elizabeth Patch.[2][3]

Immigration

The details of the family's immigration are not known. Of the father, Robert Charles Anderson wrote (2015), "William Woodbury of Misterton, brother of John, immigrated in 1636."[4]

At Massachusetts Bay

Hannah Woodbury married (1) at Salem, Massachusetts, by at least 1646, James Patch, who was probably a cousin, but not a first cousin.[5] He as born, probably at South Petherton, about 1615.[6]

James Patch died at then Salem, 10 August 1658, [7] leaving a will dated 7 August 1658, proved in Salem court, 1 : 9 : 1658 [1 November 1658],[8] naming his "beloved wife Hannah Patch" as executrix, with "my two Brothers ... Nicholas Woodberry, & john Patch" as overseers. The will also named "my Son James Patch," "my Daughter Mary Patch," "my Daughter Elizabeth Patch." His inventory, 27 : 6 : 1658 by Richard Brackenbury, John Thorndike, Zebulon Hill and John Hill, totaled £250. 6s.

Hannah married (2) Mark Haskell[9] of Ipswich, between 1 : 9 : 1658 [1 November 1658] (date Patch will proved in court)[10] and 5 June 1663 (she is "Hannah Haskell" in her father's will).[11]

Mark Haskell died before 30 March 1669 (court ordered administration),[12] and probably before 16: 11: 1668 [16 January 1668/9] (date estate debts were tallied).[13]

Hannah died by about May 1701, when son James Patch was named administrator de bonis non of his father's estate.[14][15][16]

There may be an error regarding Hannah's birthplace of Salem in 1629. Info on her father's wikitree page suggests he did not arrive in New England until 1631 (or later). Also, an younger brother (Isaac Woodbury) is listed as having been born in South Petherton, England in 1930. If these bits are both correct, Hannah would have been born in England...yes?

Good catch, Timothy. I've updated the profile.
