Elizabeth was born about 1708 in Middlesex, Virginia, the daughter of Matthew Whitfield and Priscilla Lawrence . [1]
She married John Smith about 1724. [1]
They had seven children.
She died in 1770, in Smithfield, Johnston County, North Carolina.
[1]
Profile originally had Colonel Samuel Smith 27 May 1709 -14 Sep 1783 as her child. This most likely comes from Emma Morehead Whitfield, "Whitfield, Bryan, Smith and Related Families,” Vol.2, p.214[2] which is incorrect. He was likely a brother of John Smith. Elizabeth's son died in 1795, as shown in the 1794 court case.
Elizabeth was born in 1708, daughter of Matthew Whitfield. She and John Smith had an additional girl with unknown birth and death dates, Mary.

Whitfield-4098 and Whitfield-131 are not ready to be merged because: Info from my source Family Tree DNA for Whitfield-4098 does not match what is in Whitfield-131. i believe the 131 to be more accurate. Pls merge with my permission to drop the different info from whitfield-4098! Thanks, Bruce Smith, Smith-152905
Elizabeth and John did not have a son named Charles as is shown in the names from the names in his will transcribed on Whitfield-131. Given that this is an unsourced profile and the rest off the information matches,, it is a clear duplicate
Elizabeth Whitfield Smith has a U.S., Sons of the American Revolution Membership Application that states her birthday as 1687. https://ancstry.me/2saZggd It lists Sam as her son born 27 May 1709. It's possible some of the other "records" are incorrect about her birthdate. Then the marriage in 1708 would make sense.
Elizabeth [Whitfield] Smith b. 1702 could not have been the mother of Samuel Smith who was born in 1709. We need to omit Samuel as a son of Elizabeth or check out birth date for Samuel.
