Biography

Anne Dugas, daughter of Claude Dugas and Françoise Bourgeois, was born about 1683.[1]

In 1686, at Port Royal, Anne, aged 7, was living with her parents, Claude, aged 38, and Francoise BOURGEOIS, aged 25, and seven siblings: Marie, aged 12, Claude, aged 10, Francoise, aged 6, Joseph, aged 6, Marguerite, aged 5, Jeanne, aged 3, and Agnesse [sic], aged 1. They owned 1 gun and were living on 8 arpents of cultivable land with 25 cattle, 9 sheep, and 11 hogs.[2]

In 1693, at Port Royal, Anne, aged 10, was living with her parents, Claude, aged 44, and Francoise BOURGEOIS, aged 34, and her ten siblings: Marie, aged 17, Claude, aged 16, Francoise, aged 14, Joseph, aged 13, Marguerite, aged 11, Jeanne, aged 9, Agnes, aged 7, Francois, aged 5, Madeleine, aged 4, and Cecile, aged 1. She was living in the household of her grandparents, Abraham DUGAS, aged 74, and Marguerite DOUCET, aged 66. The family owned 4 guns and was living on 26 arpents of cultivable land with 20 cattle, 30 sheep, and 15 pigs.[3]

She married Abraham Bourg, son of Martin Bourg and Marie Potet, in Cobequid, Acadie, about 1704.[1]. Their known children were:

  1. Unknown Bourg (bef. 1707– ) .
  2. Pierre Bourg (1707–bef. 1759) .
  3. Marguerite Bourg (abt. 1710– )

She died about 1710.[1]

Marie Dugas, born about 1691, would have been 2 years old in 1693, but she was missing from the 1693 census. Another Marie was listed, Marie “Catherine” Dugas, but she was born in 1674.
