Hello Norma, I was able to update the profiles on some of your Lukens ancestors. My Lukens source book, "The Ancestors & Descendants of Jan Lucken." has information on Eli Lukens b. 1812 and his parents and his family, but nothing newer. It has George M. Lukens listed but nothing more about him.

Hi Norma, Welcome to WikiTree! When you create a profile for a person, please add the location of the person's birth, marriage and death. If you don't know the city, or county, at least enter the state and or country, so that other WikiTreers can figure out if the person they want to enter is the same person. It's also extremely important to enter the source where you found the information for the profile. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information."

A source provides a way to find out more about the person. Showing sources reduces confusion and duplicates. http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/103236/how-do-you-find-sources- offers links to free sources (and a few for subscription). Thanks!

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to great information about GEDCompare, the process of adding a GEDCOM to WikiTree, that you might find helpful. Also, 'Before you import a GEDCOM'

Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall

Sources are very important, so please be sure to include the sources used, on each profile you add.

It is a good idea to enter a few of your ancestors manually, to get used to how WikiTree works. Then, you could upload a small portion of your tree, with a gedcom, to see how that works. There is always editing needed after a Gedcom import, so fewer profiles makes the task easier.
