You added a husband and married name to Fling-75 but there are no sources supporting this action. At least all I see is a ref to someone else's tree, which is not an acceptable source. If there are sources supporting this marriage, pls inform.
Thx
Bruce -
I apologize for not adding a source the first time - I have now added it. The essay I've cited quotes directly from David Fling's probate settlement papers. David Fling left 1/5th of his estate to Joseph Buffington "in right of his deceased wife Hannah, daughter of deceased." The full quotation is below.
"Probate continued for years after David Fling's death. 1783: heirs petitioned court for division of his land, in which eldest son, John, left a widow, 2 sons( John & David) and 2 dau (Phebe & Hannah). Again, no mention of Alice. 1790 heir distribution agreement split as follows:
1/3 to widow Abigail
1/5 to Joseph BALDWIN & wife Phebe, dau of deceased
1/5 to Joseph BUFFINGTON, in right of his deceased wife, Hannah, daughter of deceased
2/5 to John FLING, eldest son
1/5 to David FLING, another son"
I hope that helps, and I apologize again for the confusion.
Thank you, Caroline. On pre-1700 profiles it's best practice to contact the profile manager before attaching a new child and provide your sources so that the PM has a chance to verify for accuracy. Good luck in finding a source for Hannah's parents, and let me know if you do.
I noticed you changed a current last name on a profile I manage .... just a FYI .... French women generally kept their given surname upon marriage during this period of time. Their children kept their father's surname)

You made a note to merge Baker 12606 and 8732. I will do that once I learn how. Graydon
In the case of the French women we put the husband's last name in Other Last Names field. This makes it so it is still searchable by both names.
Cheers Cousin!
