Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
Wikitree help citing sources. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources_Style_Guide. You can also use the citation machine on the profile, or post in G2G if you need help. When you joined Wikitree you signed the honor code. Wikitree is about collaboration. When I was a new member I used the Help Index and posted in G2G alot. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
You made several changes to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Leavitt-942. I'm still trying to sort through those changes. There is content that is missing , because I am familiar with the profile, but can't see it in the changes. Anyway, we don't use abbreviations at Wikitree, there is plenty of room, and things look nice and neat. We also follow the format of month day year. We don't generally change dates or places,(especially if you don't have atleast 2-3 sources to cite that are valid. This also prevents profiles being edited back and forth. If you feel there is information that isn't correct contact the PM of the profile and discuss it with them before you make any changes. We don't go willy nilly from profile to profile making changes, especially without Sources.
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.
Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.
