Descendant of John Shibles, born Pemaquid, Massachusetts Bay Colony (Maine) 1732, whose mother Elizabeth Killpatrick immigrated from Londonderry County, Northern Ireland with three brothers. No record of his father, presumed John Shibles Sr., on either side of the Atlantic. JS Sr may have been a German who immigrated to Ireland ca.1709 with other German Palatines.
Raised on a dairy-crops farm in Knox, Waldo, Maine. 4H member and honoree. Graduate of Freedom Acadeny, Freedom, Maine 1952. BS University of Maine 1956 (Agronomy). MS 1958, PhD 1961 Cornell University (Agronomy). Prof. Of Agronomy 1960-1999, Iowa State University teaching Crop Plant Physiology and research on soybean plant physiology. Fellow AAAS, Amer. Soc. Agronomy, Crop Sci Soc of Amer, Iowa Academy of Science.

PS. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

I see you've been on WikiTree for about a week now. How is it going so far? Was the first page of the New Member How-Tos helpful or did it leave you with questions? It has confused the best of us at times!
