Biography

Marie Joseph Leblanc was born 20 May 1738. She was the daughter of René Leblanc and Marguerite Thébeau. She was baptized the day she was born at Saint Charles des Mines, Grand-Pré, Acadia. Her godparents were Felix Leblanc and Marguerite Leblanc.[1]

Research Note

She could be female or male. The transcript shows female (fille), the name is the male version (Joseph), and both KTR and Landry say male.

Paul Delaney also says male in his book La liste de Winslow, for Joseph-Marie LeBlanc born in Grand-Pré in 1738: On 5 September 1755, Joseph was imprisoned along with hundreds of other Acadian men at the St. Charles des Mines church in Grand-Pré. On a list of prisoners, he was said to live in the village Grand LeBlanc. No children or livestock were recorded for him on the census. He was required to prepare for deportation within 30 days. [2][3]. He was deported to Pennsylvania on 27 October 1755. He appeared on a census in Pennsylvania in 1756 as the brother of Simon.
