Biography

Rebecca (du Booys) du Bois was a daughter of a Huguenot emigrant (1540-1790).

Rebecca was baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York, on 18 June 1671, recorded as the child of Lowies du Booys and Catharina. The witnesses were Jan Joosten and Jacomeyntie Barents Slegt. ^[1]

She appears to have died young. Some genealogies mistakenly identify her as the wife of Hendrick van Meteren, who was her nephew. This misidentification results from confusing her with another Rebecca DuBois who was born several decades later and married a different Henry Van Meter.
