Karta Clark

My most distant confirmed relative is James Clark, husband of Sarah (Sally) Payne. There are other profiles on this site that claim James Clark (husband of Sally Payne) is the son of Capt James Clark and Mary Marston. This is, at the very least, completely unsupported - and at worst an outright fabrication that is amateurish and lazy. James (son of Capt James Clark) is reported by legitimate sources as having "died young" while some other sources have him marrying Sally Slater in 1813. NO source has him marrying Sally Payne. There is no one researching this family that would be more thrilled to make the connection with Captain James Clark than me, but it requires substantiation.

Please be careful what information you take from this site - confirm it for yourself from other sources.

Karta Clark

I have been working on my family genealogy on and off for over 25 years. We are hampered by a very common surname (Clark's of Orange Co Va) which makes research a test of patience. I have been through most of the libraries in central Virginia; Orange, Madison, Culpeper, Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, UVA, Va State Archives in Richmond, as well as the Nat'l Archives and Library of Congress. I believe at this point I am in search of some 'UNofficial' record in the form of a personal note, church record, or diary reference.

If something in my experiences can be of assistance I would be happy to help someone move a little closer to finding answers, as I know how tremendously rewarding even little breakthroughs can be.
