Please see this G2G thread before adding parents, spouse or any children to Ruth's profile: http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/101183/ruth-atkins-joseph-peck-may-not-be-her-spouse.

She is being protected by the Puritan Great Migration project as an "adjunct" because of her disputed relationship to a PGM immigrant. See below for details.

Disputed Origins

This Ruth (formerly known as Ruth Atkins) is not the daughter of Thomas Atkins , born in about 1619 in England, who had ten daughters and lived primarily in Maine. That Ruth's mother was identified as Elizabeth Scammons.

This Ruth's parentage has not been determined. This Ruth married first Joseph Peck, although sources showing the marriage list her as Ruth ______. After Peck's death, Ruth did marry John Hoskins (not Haskins).

In a well-researched source, the author calls into question Ruth's maiden name of Atkins, saying it may or may not have actually been her last name at birth.[1]

Although her parentage is not certain, it is possible that her maiden name was Atkins, despite the lack of documentation. However, until definitive proof of her name can be found, her last name will be changed to Unknown.

Biography

Ruth was born in about 1667, with sources suggesting she could have been born in Plymouth or Connecticut, USA. No records of her birth have been found.

She was first married to Joseph Peck, by whom she had four children, Elizabeth and Ruth who died young, Joseph, and another Ruth. Her husband, Joseph Peck, died in 1698, after which she married John Hoskins, in 1699.[2]

Ruth died in either 1734 or 1743, in Windsor, Connecticut, but no sources have been found to confirm place or date.

If this woman is not the one married to John Hoskins, shouldn't her spouse be removed, instead of her parents?

Please DO NOT merge into Ruth Atkins. They are two different people.

Since there are no sources to show her parentage by Atkins and his wife, they should be removed. Ruth Atkins, daughter of Thomas, married someone else entirely, and they were both having children at the same time with different spouses.

Her parentage is unknown. Please see Ruth (Unknown) Hoskins for further information and sources

Atkins-288 and Atkins-91 are not ready to be merged because: I am not sure of any of this because I have got to link my Elizabeth Atkins b.? d. aftr 1720 and married to my Lawrence Davis who was b. ca 1625 died 1711 in Beverly, MA in "hard copy" to Thomas Atkins and Elizabeth Scammons. I have misplace the link which described them as having 12 daughters, one of whom was Elizabeth b 1645 in Plymouth MA, married in Falmouth, ME and confirmed her Lawrence Davis as b. ca 1625 in England but has his death in April of 1711 in Falmouth, Cumberland co, ME. I'm inclined to believe I have a match because their daughter Rachel Davis was b. 1668 or 1663 depending who you look at in Falmouth, ME, but I need proof!

So sadly I cannot yet commit!
