Biography

Drapeau identifiant les profils du Canada, Nouvelle-France
Pierre Hénault lived
in Canada, Nouvelle-France.

Birth/Baptism

Pierre Hénaut, son of Pierre Hénaut and Marie Anne Rapel [Ratel], was born and baptised on 11 September 1691 in Montréal (Notre-Dame). [1] Parrain: Pierre Bourneuf et marraine: Marie Grandin femme de Claude Robillard[2]

Marriage

  • A contract was signed on 18 June 1720 before Senet (notaire) for the marriage of Pierre Henaux Delorme and Marguerite Piet, [3]

Vol XVII pg 103 Notaire Nicolas Senet[4] (actual record needs to be looked at as the parents of Marguerite are in question, could be transcription error)

Marriage in 1720, probably in Sorel, Berthier-en-Haut not having its church yet (established 1727).[5]

Known children (original spellings used)

  1. Marie Madeleine Hainault, bapt 3 Jun 1721 Sorel, godfather François Charon godmother Marie Boucher; married to Joseph Houde or Houle before 1751 (record not found); Marie Hénault, d & buried 21 Nov 1751 Berthier-en-Haut @ 30 years
  2. Jean Baptiste Hainaut, bapt 20 Dec 1722 Sorel, godfather Jean Baptiste Charron godmother Marie Anne Latour; died & buried 18 Dec 1755 Berthier-en-Haut, the record gives him around 22 years of age (sic), naming his parents.
  3. Joseph Marie Hainault, bapt 26 May 1724 Sorel godfather Joseph Deslarrier godmother Marie Antoinette Bailliac; Joseph Hénault married Marie Amable Latour 10 Apr 1752 Berthier-en-Haut, François Généreux present
  4. Angélique Henault b c 1725 ; Angélique Hénault married Joseph Charon dit Ducharme 17 Apr 1758 Berthier-en-Haut; remarried to Joseph Généreux 22 Nov 1762 Berthier-en-Haut; Angélique Éno died 7 Nov 1818 buried 9th Berthier-en-Haut, age given her being 94 (Note: she was given the date of birth of Françoise, who was given the date of birth of Catherine in previous listing. Error, Françoise married and used her own name consistently. Angélique uses that name, sometimes with Marie in front, on all records throughout her 2 marriages. Age at death is an estimate by the priest, as were many of these. Puts her birth at around 1724. Joseph has no twin.)
  5. Jean Baptiste Hainault, bapt 2 Feb 1726 Sorel godfather Jean Mandeville godmother Françoise Mennue; Jean Baptiste Hénault married Josephe Généreux 29 Dec 1760 Lavaltrie (He used dit Portneuf later)

  9. Ovide Hénault, b c 1737; Ovide Hénault died & buried 17 Dec 1755 Berthier-en-Haut @ 18 years[6]

Death

No funeral record has been identified as his. He is listed as deceased on the funeral record of his wife of 3 Jan 1757. He gets named Joseph on that record, as well as on the funeral records of his two sons Jean and Ovide in December 1755, although those do not list him as deceased. He is not listed as deceased but not named present at the marriage of his son Joseph on 10 April 1752.[6] He was resident of Berthier-en-Haut, so most likely that is where he died.

10 February 1757 - Guardianship of Minor Children of Deceased Pierre Henault husband of Marguerite Piette

  • Tutelle des enfants mineurs des défunts Pierre Hénault Canada Delorme et Marguerite Piette [Lafrenière Trempe][7]

Note: 27 Oct 1756 date of death previously entered is for the Pierre Hénault married to Geneviève Généreux, ie his namesake brother, not him.[6]
