Biography

Marguerite Doucet was born and baptized on 18 March 1741 in Annapolis Royal.[1] She was the daughter of Joseph Doucet and Marie Anne Bourg. Her godparents were Pierre Doucet and Marguerite Doucet.

She married Joseph Abel Bourgeois around 1762 in the New England Colonies. Their marriage was rehabilitated on 28 September 1767 in Bécancour.[2] [3]

Marguerite died on 28 December 1821 and was buried on the 31th of that month. [3][4]

Research Notes

According to researcher Marcel Walter Landry, Marguerite was buried on 8 May 1792 in Champlain, Quebec. No spouse is named in the record. She was 52 according to the register. However, PRDH (Programme de recherche en démographie du Québec) and Nos Origines website give the date 28 December 1821 in Bécancour. This burial record gives her husband's name, Joseph Bourgeois, and her age: about 90 years old. Also, PRDH attributes the date of death 8 May 1792 to another Marguerite Doucet, daughter of Pierre Doucet and Marie Richard.
