Biography

Firmin was born in 1752, in Annapolis Royal is the son of Laurent Doucet and Ursule Martin. [1] [2]

He passed away about 1864. [citation needed]

Research Notes

According to M.W. Landry, Firmin Doucet who married Marie Rose Thibodeau in 1803 was born in 1782 in Kamouraska and is the son of Amable Doucet and Marie Josèphe Landry. [3] [4] This Firmin died indeed 20 March 1864 in St-Basile, Madawaska. But he was about 84 years old, Date of birth: around 1780... [5]

No marriage or date of death for Firmin, born in 1752... [6]

Update: parents on both profiles correct per above notes. Removed 1803 marriage for this profile as that belongs with Doucet-1370. That Doucet also has the correct 1864 birthdate and location.

This family seems to have moved to Ashford, Connecticut before 1754...

The date of marriage is most improbable... According to another public tree, Firmin, born 1752 and Marie Rose, born 1758 had 15 children between 1803 and 1827! Marie Rose was aged 45-69 years! Firmin would have died at 112 years old in 1864! This date of death, the marriage of 1803 and the 15 children of this tree should be connected to Firmin Doucet, born 1782... [7]

The Marie Rose Thibodeau, supposed spouse of this profile is said to be born in 1758. But she passed away 6 Nov 1850 in St-Basile, Madawaska at 70 years old. Date of birth around 1780. [8]

Update: Marriage information removed. Left the Thibodeau profile because he might have married a Thibodeau and she was not a duplicate of the one married to the 1782 Firmin Doucet.

It seems to be a mix of 2 Firmin Doucet, both married to a Marie Rose Thibodeau [?]....:

"In the research done by Blanche Pouliotte, Firmin was mistaken for the son of Laurent Doucet and Ursule Martin. That Firmin Doucet was born in Port Royal in 1752 and deported to Connecticut with his family. When I went over her compilation of research I thought it odd that Firmin disappeared for 50 years and then reappeared in Madawaska. I finally realized that he and Marie were not in their 70's when their youngest child was born. The census taken in both 1820 and 1830 confirmed that the Firmin Doucet and Marie Thibodeau I am related to was much younger. Research done by the American Canadian Genealogical Society confirms it.
Based on the Genealogical Research done by Blanche Doucette Pouliotte - Drouin Records of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick - 1820, 1830 Census of Canada for New Brunswick - American Canadian Genealogical Society" [9]

PRDH does not give a date for marriage or death, which is usually the case when someone married and died outside Quebec. Could not find a marriage or burial record in Ancestry.

Doucet-2539 and Doucet-2398 appear to represent the same person because: Same year of birth. Date of death possibly belongs to the other Firmin born in 1782, so this is a mix of 2 profiles. Proposing a merge into Firmin born in 1752 who is not known to have married or had children.

It seems to be a mix of 2 Firmin Doucet, both married to a Marie Rose Thibodeau. The date of marriage 6 feb 1803, all the children and the date of death 1864 should be connected to Firmin Doucet.... See Research Notes.

Julie, thank you for all the research. I added some updates to your notes, and removed a small amount of info that went solely to the other profiles. Left most of it, and the current wife who is a different Thibodeau, though, so confusion doesn't happen again.

I am removing Firmin from the parents. The parents would have been too young. Perhaps his parents are Pierre Doucet and Francois Dugas?
